What do you guys think of these? I got a couple of studio samples to examine the quality and craftsmanship of these new Float Wraps. They’re about a quarter of an inch thick with a 3/4 to one inch back plate that extends them away from the wall so that they appear to be floating, drawing the eyes to image.
Float Wraps are created by wrapping the photographic print or canvas print around masonite to create a thin wrap. The print or canvas is protected with a laminate and padding is added between the print and the masonite to give the front of the Float Wrap a raised, elegant look and feel. They come in Fine Art Canvas with a Semi-Gloss Laminate or Metallic Canvas with a High Gloss Laminate. Lustre and Metallic Photographic prints are finished with a Matte Laminate. They’re available from 8×10 up to 20×30. The print wraps all the way around the edges and is a very tightly woven fabric similar to vinel or leather. I’m very impressed with the labs ability to match my colors. Very consistent from screen to product. I think I may start offering these to my clients. Do you think these are something client’s would like?

Compare these to the more traditional canvas wraps, which have more texture and are wrapped around a wooden reinforced frame. Like the float wraps, the the image wraps around the edges. The particular canvas wrap below has about a 1 and 1/2 inch thickness and sits flatly against the wall.

Both options are just alternatives to the traditional framed prints, which, of course, are also offered.
