As most of you know our time in SoCal is coming to an end. We have been in this area for 8 years! The longest we have stayed anywhere during our 20 years in the Marine Corps. Having moved many times, I have to say this one is going to be the hardest move for several reasons. For me, I will be leaving behind many wonderful friends and this place has become like home to me, but it is time to head back to the south where my “true” home is with my family. My oldest son, who moved 7 different times and attended 7 different schools during our 20 years of service, has already been living there now for 3 years attending college and I am super excited to be back close to him. My oldest daughter, who has moved 4 times and attended 4 different schools, is graduating this year and attending college in Florida where she will playing volleyball. Graduation is always a bitter sweet moment for kids. The bitterness of moving off from friendships that have been formed to the sweetness and excitement of moving off to college to create new friendships and starting life. But it is that time in life where the move is normal and it’s time to move on to the next stage. Which brings me to my youngest daughter and the most emotional part of the move for me. She is the only one of my children that has started school in one location and has not moved away since fist grade. Haley has been a trooper about the move and she understands and a part of her is excited about what to expect, but this is also a very sad and emotional for her because this is not the “normal” time to have to move off from your closest friends. She had developed such wonderful friendships and memories that I know she will cherish forever! I wanted to do something special for her and her friends before we move off so I took them out for a fun photo shoot! So enjoy the pictures and I wish all these little girls the best in life. We love you guys and will miss you dearly!

Amelia Island Wedding Photographer, Day-After shoot and Orlando Temple Wedding of Jessica and Bradley

I was quite excited to fly back to Florida for destination wedding in Orlando. Jessica grew up in southeast Ga, and selected the Orlando Church of Latter Day Saints Temple for her nuptials. Jessica and Bradley met at BYU-Idaho, where they are both college students. Jessica is majoring in Photography, and I think she is going to be an awesome pro! I also took the opportunity to scout out Fernandina Beach and Talbot Island, since I will be relocating my wedding photography business to Amelia Island area this summer! We spent a late afternoon on Fernandina Beach and Talbot beach for some fun wedding pictures. I think I’m going to really enjoy photographing weddings on Amelia Island and look forward to new beginnings as a Jacksonville wedding photographer!

Stacy & Chris – Winery Wedding at Wiens Family Cellars, Temecula, Ca

We were all really worried about the ominous clouds and predicted rain showers on the day of Chris and Stacy’s wedding, but as a photographer, I absolutely loved it! A nice cloudy day makes for a gorgeous backdrop and soft light that can really make off camera lighting a lot of fun. I was especially happy that Chris and Stacy allotted plenty of time in the schedule for us to get some creative shots in. A fun and sweet couple, they were up for anything and seem to have a blast during the shoots. Great job by the Staff at Wiens, VIP Florists, and Cakes to Celebrate.

Amy & Ryan’s “Get to Know Me” Engagement Session

After about five minutes of photography Amy and Ryan, Cris and I felt like we’d known them for years. Such a fun couple, and we enjoyed having dinner with them afterwards at Vail Ranch. I’ve been delaying this blog post because it was being featured on San Diego Weddings Magazine blog, Exquisite Weddings. This will be one of the last Temecula weddings I shoot at Ponte Winery before moving to Amelia Island, Fl and starting anew as a Jacksonville Wedding Photographer. Of course, I still enjoy being a destination wedding photographer and look forward to flying back to SoCal to photograph weddings at my favorite wineries! I hope you all enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed photographing them.

Kat & Del’s Ponte Winery Wedding, Temecula Ca

They say rain on the wedding day is good luck. If so, Kat and Dell are blessed. The rain held off just to the point in which is was time for Kat to walk down the isle. It came in across the Temecula Valley fast and heavy as the excellent staff at Ponte and Kerry Fuller, the coordinator, began ushering the crowd indoors. The reception area was quickly arranged for the inclement weather plan, and the ceremony went very smoothly. I’ve photographed dozens of weddings at Ponte, but this was the first ceremony I’ve ever shot indoors there. Just as quickly as it came, the rain blew over, but we stuck with the inclement weather plan since everything outside was soaked. Of course, rain means clouds, and I was loving the gray and blue backdrops the Lord provided us. Kat’s wedding gown was gorgeous and I loved the striped socks the guys wore. Stella and Michael’s Wedding at Malibou Lake, Ca

I’m delighted to share the images from Maristella & Michael’s wedding. Maristella began following my work on Facebook a few years ago, and always promised that I’d be her wedding photographer when she married. She held true to that, and last month, I was privileged to spend one of the most important and memorable days of her life with her. Stella’s decor featured some of the most beautiful lillies I’ve ever seen. Instead of a signing a guest book, Stella had bottles of wine commemorating milestones of their anniversaries, which I’ve never seen before and thought an awesome idea! Callaway Winery Wedding of Dewey and Jeanette

After photographing the engagement session for Dewey and Jeanette at Angel’s Stadium in Anaheim, Ca, I knew their wedding would be a blast. We gathered high above the Temecula Valley at the scenic Callaway Vineyard and Winery, which offered breathtaking views of the vineyards in the valley and a pleasantly cool breeze to ward off the heat of the day. I had a blast with this couple because they really valued the photo session and planned in adequate time for us to capture some cool images. Once the ceremony was over, we headed to a private estate for the reception. I hope you enjoy the pics as much as we enjoyed capturing them!

Learning the Make-Up Do’s and Don’ts

When my youngest daughter Haley hit her Jr High years I heard the constant pleading to wear make-up like “all of her friends.” But I stood my ground! Having an older daughter, I had already went thought this before, and the rule was 8th grade. And I can promise you that Trystan, my older daughter, kept me on track with that. There was no way she was going to let Haley wear make-up before her:) You have to love sibling rivalry.

As Haley entered the summer of her 8th grade year I came with the idea of having a “teaching make-up” class for her. I often see these young girls wearing make-up too dark and too much for what I like. To me, make-up is to be used to accent our favorite features, whether it is your eyes, cheek bones, or lips. So I called in a professional: Michelle from Lipstick & Luster, who does beautiful work for brides, to come teach my girls how to properly apply their make-up. Haley invited some friends over and they all had a great time listening and observing the do’s and dont’s of make-up. I have to say I learned quite a bit myself:) Wishing I had done this for Trystan when she first start wearing make-up, I chose for her to be the one that Michelle applied the make-up on. This worked great because with Trystan being a senior I took advantage of the moment and took her out for a mini senior session.

Thank you so much Michelle you did a great job and I highly recommend anyone at any age to take this class!
