Sharon & Eric’s Wilson Creek Winery Wedding

Ahhh, the romance… patriotism, and the symbolic nobility that accompany the prestige of marrying a military man.  (I should know, I’m married to one:)  San Diego based Lieutenant J.G. Eric Cottrell, an Officer and a Gentleman,  and his beautiful bride, Sharon Sobhani, married on July 31 at  the lovely Wilson Creek Winery in Temecula, Ca.  The wedding was originally planned for later this year, but due to a short notice deployment to combat piracy on the high seas, Eric and Sharon quickly adjusted plans and tied the knot in a small, intimate ceremony surrounded by their closest friends and family.  Its nice to shoot the smaller more intimate weddings every now and then.  There’s such a personal sweetness for which I lack the words to effectively convey.

Michelle and Doug, Laguna Beach ‘Get to Know Me’ Session

I had a blast getting to know Doug and Michelle, and Doug’s parents who tagged along.  Can’t miss an opportunity to watch the sun set over Laguna Beach, right?  They’ll marry in September, 2011.  Be sure to watch the slide show until the end.  They totally surprised me by running and diving into the water.  Luckily, I was armed and ready with a fast trigger finger:)

Testing new product – Float Wraps

What do you guys think of these?  I got a couple of studio samples to examine the quality and craftsmanship of these new Float Wraps.  They’re about a quarter of an inch thick with a 3/4 to one inch back plate that extends them away from the wall so that they appear to be floating, drawing the eyes to image.

Float Wraps are created by wrapping the photographic print or canvas print around masonite to create a thin wrap. The print or canvas is protected with a laminate and padding is added between the print and the masonite to give the front of the Float Wrap a raised, elegant look and feel. They come in Fine Art Canvas with a Semi-Gloss Laminate or Metallic Canvas with a High Gloss Laminate. Lustre and Metallic Photographic prints are finished with a Matte Laminate.  They’re available from 8×10 up to 20×30.  The print wraps all the way around the edges and is a very tightly woven fabric similar to vinel or leather.  I’m very impressed with the labs ability to match my colors.  Very consistent from screen to product.  I think I may start offering these to my clients.  Do you think these are something client’s would like?

Compare these to the more traditional canvas wraps, which have more texture and are wrapped around a wooden reinforced frame.  Like the float wraps, the the image wraps around the edges.  The particular canvas wrap below has about a 1 and 1/2 inch thickness and sits flatly against the wall.

Both options are just alternatives to the traditional framed prints, which, of course, are also offered.

Rose & Dale’s Canyon Lake Wedding

After shooting Rose and Dale’s Engagement session, I came home and told my husband that I’d just photographed the funnest couple, and they’re just the type of people we’d really enjoy hanging out with.  Dale and Rose dated for 7 years before finally tying the knot.  Dale is a true gentleman in every regard, and rose is a sweet of a person as they come.  I could tell their love was sincere, and mature, and real…  they way its suppose to be.  You could see the affection for one another when they locked eyes…  and for that moment, we all knew none of the rest of us existed.  They married at their church in a traditional ceremony followed by a reception at Canyon Lake, Ca.  Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day, as well as a few from the engagement session…  Be sure to hang around the slide show long enough to see the INCREDIBLY talented job Rose did of designing and decorating her reception colors and theme….

I loved all the details in the wedding – from the joy on people’s faces to the colors to the jewel-encrusted cake servers. But most of all I loved the photos of loved ones on the bouquets. What a wonderful way to carry someone with you as you walk into a new chapter in your life.
Congratulations to Rose and Dale.
I may not know you – but for these 10 minutes that I spent reading what Therese said and looking at your photos, I felt as though I did.
i wish you both the best of everything!

The Real ME!

I think its healthy for a photographer to get on the other side of the camera every once in a while to remember what it feels like, so I had my husband (and second shooter) take me out for an afternoon session.  We wanted to test out some new gear and grab some new shots for my websites as well, and just let me say….  I DO NOT like being on this side of the camera!  I’m not naturally a photogenic person, so it was hard for Cris to get shots I was willing to allow others to see:) but nevertheless, we had a great time.  We started out in Old Town Temecula and ended up in a field near Murrieta Valley High.  I’d wanted to get out on the football field and throw with Cris for a bit, but it was locked up tight.  Instead, we ventured out into a nearby field and made a few more shots of me in my football gear!  Anyone who knows me can attest that I’m a huge Ga Bulldawgs fan.  Nothing like the SEC, and I’m stoked that the season is approaching.   I can’t wait to watch a game or two with my friend and fellow photographer, Lilia Parker, who is also a bulldawgs football freak, marrying a guy from Ga and all…  Hey…    who ever said women don’t like football just hasn’t met the right woman yet:) Isn’t my husband a lucky dawg?

Don’t be so hard on yourself; you look great! I think my fav is the b/w shot (4th one in the slide show), but any where you’re smiling any having a good time came out really well. Bottom line is – don’t try so hard for the camera. Just be yourself…
